Orienteering is a sport in which participants use a map and a compass to find points in the landscape. It can be enjoyed as a walk in nature or as a competitive running sport. Five Rivers MetroParks hosts a number of orienteering meets throughout the year as well as programs to get new orienteers started.

Thu	10/28 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM	Intro to Land Navigation Would you like to learn how to use a map and compass in the backcountry? Do you need to dust off some little-used skills? Then this is the program for you. This classroom session will teach the basic parts and ways to use maps and compasses. This program is a prerequisite for Land Navigation Basics. Sat	11/06 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM	Land Navigation Basics Are you ready for the next step in the Land Navigation progression? Get out and use map and compass together in this field-based program. Registration is required and limited, so please call (937) 277-4374.	Twin Creek MetroPark	14Y and Up	$10.00

MVOC/ORRRC Orienteering Adventure Night-O II
Join the Miami Valley Orienteering Club for a unique night orienteering event. Bring a compass, water bottle, glow stick, flashlight, headlamp, whistle, reflective apparel and stop watch.

MVOC/ORRRC Orienteering Adventure Race III
Start and finish at Shumard Campsite for this 20K course with 24 controls possible. This trails-only orienteering event is sponsored by the Miami Valley Orienteering Club and Ohio River Road Runners Club.
